The Vault brings Zea, Bro’sys, and Sys’bro to the small, tropical planet Angulor. Bro’sys and Sys’bro receive orders from the Bravat’a to deliver the Vault, a duty they debate between each other. In the lush jungles crisscrossed by ancient ice fissures, the Trigonog tribes war over the preservation of the last of Angulor’s megafauna. One allegiance reveres and protects the beasts, while two others vye for their extermination. An independent ranger, Tuthenail, befriends Zea and her new companions. Tuthenail leads Zea, Bro’sys, and Sys’bro to visit the Oracle, a hermit hiding from cosmic war and the Bravat’a. Wro inhabits beasts of the forest to track and protect Zea. Zea convinces the Oracle to intervene in the conflict of the Trigonogs. When negotiations fail, even under the wisdom of the Oracle, Zea realizes she must use her unique perspective to end the conflict and save the great beasts.
